An anonymous philanthropist has made at least 200,000 euros in cash donations to various institutions in the Brunswick region since the beginning of the year, The German News Agency reported.

On Monday, a home for the elderly was awarded 100,000 euros in cash, distributed on 200 500 euro securities, according to local media.

The funds were found in an envelope addressed to the editorial board of the newspaper "Braunschweiger Zeitung", attached to the title of the presumed recipient.

"Helping people with serious illness to die with dignity is a sign of human compassion and deserves respect and appreciation," the philanthropist wrote.

"We don't know who the donor is and we don't want to jeopardize these good deeds," said David Mahe of the newspaper.

In the past, this unidentified person left envelopes containing 20,500,000 euros, according to the same source.

In recent years, many anonymous donations have been sent to various charities.

According to the public station NDR, the Newspaper "Folsberger" last year received a envelope of 100,000 euros to build a second home for the elderly.
