Researchers have invented a reusable face mask for its ability to eliminate the coronavirus, with heat from a mobile phone charger.
Yair Ein Eli, who leads the research team at the Israeli Technion University in Haifa, said that the sterilization process takes about 30 minutes, and that users should not wear the mask while it is connected to the charger.
And with the new muzzle a USB port that can be connected to an electrical source such as a mobile phone charger, which can raise the temperature of an inner layer of carbon fiber up to 70 degrees Celsius, which is high enough to kill viruses.
Ein Eli added that the one-time masks, which are in great demand globally during the crisis, are economically expensive and not environmentally friendly.
The prototype of this face mask resembles a valve (N95) with a valve and rubber bands to secure its position on the face.
The researchers applied for a patent for the face mask in the United States in late March, and say they are looking to commercialize its production with the private sector.
Researchers note that it will likely cost more than a dollar more than single-use masks.
