Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Saturday awarded the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi the Zayed Medal in recognition of his role in enhancing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Modi will see the launch of a special commemorative postage stamp to mark the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, according to a tweet on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed's Twitter account.
The Zayed Medal is the UAE's highest award to kings, presidents and leaders. Modi was awarded the medal in April in a tweet by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi placed the gold medal around Modi's neck in front of journalists' lenses in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. "You deserve it," Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed told Modi while taking pictures of them.
An earlier tweet on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed's Twitter account said: "We have historical ties and comprehensive strategic ties with India, reinforced by the pivotal role of my dear friend, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has given her a big boost."
The Indian Prime Minister confirmed: "Relations between the UAE and India are at their best, and his country finds in the UAE an important partner to realize its ambitious dream of reaching an economy of more than $5 trillion through a mutually beneficial partnership."
"India has embarked on this ambitious path, which is achievable by 2024-2025," Modi told wam news agency on the occasion of his two-day visit to the country.
He added: "We are targeting $1.7 trillion in investments in the next five years, and to achieve this vision, the government is promoting investment flows from domestic and external sources."
He said that the UAE is the country's third largest trading partner by about $60 billion in 2018-2019, and that many of our companies are investing here in the UAE.
