At the invitation of the joint "Felt Segel-Veit Sisle-Ultrasporte," the strike included all pilots and air and ground crews from 10:00 am to 14:00 pm local time.

Unions demand a broad reform of the sector, tougher rules of respect for competition, and more transparency in the granting of special deals and standards against the "dumping of the contract and wage market" imposed by an increasing number of companies.

Following discussions involving Transport Minister Danilo Tonnelli on these issues this week, unions have maintained a call for a general strike but have reduced it from 24 hours to 4 hours, saying they expect tangible benefits from the first business meetings set in early September.

In addition, a day-long move is being added to the Alitalia  officers, who are facing difficulties and are concerned about the feasibility and social consequences of a takeover plan currently under consideration.
