"Masken".. How to avoid the harmful face of the masks?

Wearing masks for long periods of time harms facial skin

Masks have become an integral part of "human culture" during the past months in light of the coronavirus pandemic crisis, and it seems that this culture will continue for a while.

And with the necessity of wearing this mask against germs, especially in enclosed spaces, bad side effects of masks appeared on the skin of the face, especially if it was worn for long periods of time.

Because of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, many, especially health-care workers, had to wear masks for hours at a time, causing them to experience skin problems that specialists called "mask blisters" or "masken".

The new term is used to describe the increase in impurities and oils resulting from wearing face masks, and the effect is only on the parts covered by the mask.

The famous British dermatologist Sandra Lee told the Daily Mail that "the moisture and heat caused by wearing the muzzle for long periods of time is a major cause of (Masken), as it leads to clogging of the pores of the skin," noting that contact with the face mask helps to the appearance of pimples and pills. "

She stressed that those who have oily skin will suffer more than this.

In order to avoid this or mitigate its effects, the doctor advised, among other things, to avoid putting a scrub on the face before using masks.

Sandra also pointed to the need to wash the face well after finishing the use of masks, adding: "Women can use handkerchiefs to clean their faces in case they do not have time to reach the bathroom."

She advised to use a "face scrub" lotion, as it is able to treat the beginnings of any pimples or spots, and to prevent the appearance of more of them.

And she continued: "It is preferable to use cleaning wipes that contain glycolic acid and salicylic acid, because of its ability to effective exfoliation keeps the skin clean, and most importantly, its ability to clean pores from oils and dead cells."

On the other hand, Renée Roulou, a well-known cosmetologist, believes that cleaning the skin properly every evening is extremely important to avoid the damages of wearing masks.

"It is necessary to cleanse the skin with a gentle, anti-microbial wash containing active ingredients such as salicylic acid or tea tree extract," she added.

And then, a face mask can be made to detoxify, which contains ingredients to kill microbes and moisturize the skin and treat friction caused by wearing masks.

René advised those who wore scarves covering the face or using cloth masks, to always wash and clean them to prevent dirt and oily oils from entering the pores of the face.
