Chinese 77-year-old Ake Yizheng is supported and encouraged by social media pioneers to compete for the title of world's longest hair in the Guinness Book of Records.
Users shared photos of Yizheng's 5.5-meter-long hair, which he had not cut for more than 54 years, as well as a video of him at a hair salon in Sichuan Province.
According to odditycentral, which specializes in strange news and odds, it takes three hours to wash and dry Yizheng's hair.
Chinese media reported that Yizheng has not cut his hair since he was 23 years old, and one of them offered to buy his hair for $570 in 1970, but he turned down the offer despite the difficulties he faces in maintaining his long hair, especially when he leaves home.
The photos and video showing Yizheng'slong hair provoked mixed reactions among those who watched it, some of whom encouraged him to continue to lengthen his hair, while others showed their disgust at the appearance they described as disgusting.
