U.S. health officials reported Thursday 34 confirmed and probable deaths from a mysterious respiratory disease linked to E-cigarettes.

Last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 1,479 cases and 33 deaths from the disease, and announced plans to begin testing e-smoking products as part of their investigation, Reuters reported.

Investigators did not link the cases of injury and death to a particular product or compound, but noted that the oils used in e-smoking contained (T-H-C), which is responsible for the psychological impact of marijuana, and said they posed a risk.

The centers stated that there may be several causes of the disease and that the cause may be different across the country.
