Investigators in Spain cracked a murder case from a year ago, thanks to Google Maps, which recorded the moment the perpetrator concealed the victim's body in a vehicle.
The case of the man's disappearance in the municipality of Tajico, located in north-central Spain, has been the focus of an investigation for over a year now.
In October 2024, Spanish media shared a screenshot from an app that depicted an individual tossing a white-shrouded object into the trunk of a vehicle.
According to a police statement released on Wednesday, authorities have taken the victim's wife and her partner into custody.
The announcement indicated that the photos were sourced from the Google Street View application, revealing a vehicle that could potentially be linked to the crime.
Authorities reported that a severely decomposed body, thought to belong to the victim, was discovered earlier this month in a cemetery located in the province of Soria.
According to El Pais, the victim was 33 years old.
A judge has mandated the detention of the suspects, and the investigation is still ongoing.
