American child dies of complications from infection with lice

American child dies of complications from infection with lice.

A US court is hearing a high-profile child abuse case after the death of 12-year-old Kaitlyn Yozviak in late August.

The court charges the child's mishandling of her parents, Katie Horton and Joey Yozviak, German website NTFao reported, citing the British daily Mail. According to the British newspaper, the American girl died of a heart attack caused by years of anemia.

According to the Georgia State Court judges, the child's anemia was the result of three years of lice bites. Investigators said in their report that at the time of her death Kaitlyn was suffering from the worst lice case they had ever seen at the FBI. Investigators believe that "persistent lice bites reduced the level of iron in the blood, which most likely caused her to anemia."

According to the investigators' report, the girl suffered "severe physical pain due to negligence." However, the results of the full autopsy have not yet emerged, while the Court has confirmed that there is sufficient evidence to bring charges against the parents. At a court hearing, the mother of the deceased child admitted that her daughter had last showered about a week and a half before her death, German RTL reported.
