Used batteries can be disposed of properly

In Germany, the law requires consumers to collect batteries and throw them in suitable containers.

The used batteries contain heavy metals that pollute the environment and harm them, so experts advise the need to dispose of them properly in order to avoid damages and avoid the deposition of any toxic substances, and to take advantage of their components to recycle new batteries.

Although some of us do not know what is the correct way to dispose of used batteries, others are lazy in following the correct steps. Experts stress that the batteries should not be treated as ordinary waste, but should be disposed of in a different way.

In a report published by the German magazine "Focus", every citizen in Germany consumes an average of 20 batteries. "Zoltan Bjarni" from the Federal Office for the Environment said that these used batteries contain 8 thousand tons of iron and about 5 thousand tons of zinc, two thousand tons of nickel and 6 tons of silver, and added, "Bjarni" that the battery manufacturers can use these metals to manufacture batteries. New again.

The press report indicated that the batteries cannot be considered as ordinary waste and therefore must be disposed of properly, and throwing them in nature is an "irresponsible behavior" because these batteries also contain heavy metals that are harmful to the environment. "Begtan Bayarni" warns that, for example, dropping battery heads, which often contain mercury, carelessly in nature causes the toxic chemical substance to leak into the land that it is unable to dismantle and ultimately through the food chain to the human body.

Therefore, the law in Germany, as in many countries that have laws that determine how to deal and dispose of batteries, requires consumers to collect the batteries and throw them in appropriate containers in electronic stores or in special centers for storing used energy units.

As for the lithium-ion battery used in digital cameras or mobile phones, for example, can cause fires if they come in contact with air or water, the consumer must cover the poles of the battery with tape before disposal or storing it for a longer period.

And often large stores in Germany contain special boxes placed near the entrance so that buyers can put the batteries used inside and dispose of them in an easy way.
