A shooting at a store in El Paso, Texas, in the southern United States, left one person dead and wounded, U.S. authorities said Saturday.

El Paso police said in a Tweet: "Attention: Shooting, stay away from Cello Vista, the situation is still evolving."

Local media reported that the shooting took place at a Wal-Mart store in the city.

Olivia Zepeda, director of el Paso's mayor's office, was quoted by CNN as saying that the shooting resulted in several deaths, adding that security forces had arrested a number of suspects, without giving further details.

Officials said the death toll was 20 dead and wounded, and three suspects were arrested, AFP reported.

El Paso police spokesman Enrique Carrillo told reporters. "There is no immediate danger, no one's shooting anymore, but that doesn't mean declaring the site safe now."

Two people were killed and a police officer was injured at a Walmart store in Mississippi on Tuesday.

On Sunday, three people, including a six-year-old boy, were killed by a 19-years-old boy in a shooting at a food festival in Gilroy, California.
